How Does Search Engine Marketing Work?

High-intent

 A potential customer searches for a product/service that he’s looking to buy. Google/Bing shows both Organic and Paid Search results, with the latter usually at the top. Since the ad is usually shown above the Organic results, the likelihood of someone clicking on the ad is very high.

Action

You pay a CPC (cost-per-click) only when someone clicks on your ad to go to your website or give you a phone call. You never pay for an ad impression (when ad is shown), you only pay when someone takes an action (click, call, direction, etc.).
